1963 Map of Speed

USGS Topo · Published 1994

About this map

The sharp topographic contrast of the Knobs and the Clark State Forest dominates this portion of Southern Indiana during the mid-twentieth century. To the west, the steep elevation of Wieseka Knob and the Carr terrain gives way to the lower-lying drainage basins of the Muddy Fork and Silver Creek. This transition zone is marked by the sprawling waters of Deam Lake and Lake Hideaway, reflecting a landscape managed for both timber and recreation.
