1953 Map of Seward

About this map

The Kenai Peninsula and the deep fjords of Prince William Sound anchor this mid-century portrait of coastal Alaska. From the southern terminus at Seward on Resurrection Bay, the map traces the critical corridor of the Alaska Railroad as it winds north through the Kenai Mountains, passing through Moose Pass and the now-familiar hubs of Girdwood and Portage. The landscape is dominated by massive glacial features, most notably the expansive Harding Icefield and the Chugach Mountains, which define the rugged interior between the rail line and the coast.
