1955 Map of Demarcation Point

About this map

The Alaska Yukon border meets the Beaufort Sea at the very edge of the United States Canada international boundary. This 1955 survey captures a remote stretch of the North Slope where the high peaks of the Brooks Range, specifically the Romanzof Mountains and British Mountains, dominate the southern landscape. Glacial features around Mt Hubley feed a network of braided rivers including the Aichilik River and Kongakut River, which flow north across the tundra toward a complex coastline of barrier islands and lagoons.
