1955 Map of Demarcation Point

USGS Topo · Published 1963

About this map

Demarcation Point and the adjacent Demarcation Bay anchor the northeasternmost corner of Alaska, where the international boundary meets the Arctic Ocean. This mid-century survey illustrates the transition from the barrier islands and lagoons of the Beaufort Sea coast to the massive glaciated peaks of the Brooks Range. Coastal life is represented by the settlement of Gordon and the Demarcation (Site), while further inland, the landscape is defined by the braided channels of the Aichiilik River, Konga Kut River, and Jago River.
