About this map

Rose Lodge anchors the southwestern corner of this coastal Oregon mountain landscape, situated where the Salmon River flows through the dense timberlands of the Siuslaw National Forest. The geography is defined by high, narrow divides including Gauldy Ridge and Neskowin Ridge, which separate complex drainage networks. To the north, the Little Nestucca River and its tributaries, such as the South Fork Little Nestucca River and Stillwell Creek, carve through the forest. The southern portion of the map features the Van Duzer Forest Wayside, a corridor following the river valley through the mountains. This 2023 survey illustrates the modern boundaries between Tillamook, Lincoln, and Yamhill counties, showing how land use and conservation efforts, such as those at Lost Prairie and near Saddle Bag Mtn, have preserved the character of these Pacific Northwest watersheds.
