About this map

Blue Cypress Lake dominates the eastern edge of this region, serving as the headwaters for a complex network of wetlands and seasonal drainages. The landscape is defined by the slow movement of water through Blue Cypress Creek and the meandering path of Padgett Branch. Significant conservation efforts are visible in the southeast, where the Fort Drum-Marsh Conservation Area Trl provides a route through the marshlands and pine flatwoods. This area represents a critical hydrological transition point where the boundaries of Indian River, Osceola, and Okeechobee counties meet. Human infrastructure is limited to long, straight corridors such as Blue Cypress Rd and Osceola Rd, which cut through the marshy terrain to connect scattered agricultural lands and rural parcels. The southwestern corner of the sheet transitions toward more established routes, including N Parrott Ave, as the terrain begins to firm up away from the lake basin.
