Bayou Sale defines the transition from the marshlands of St. Mary Parish into the open waters of East Cote Blanche Bay and the Gulf of America. This coastal landscape is dominated by tidal waterways such as Oyster Bayou, Lone Oak Bayou, and Leopard Bayou, which snake through a complex network of wetlands. Small settlements like Gordy and Burns are situated along the narrow strip of higher ground between the W Bayou Sale Levee and E Bayou Sale Levee.
