About this map

North Cascades National Park and the Stephen Mather Wilderness converge in this high-elevation reach of Skagit County. The drainage network is anchored by the Cascade River, which receives numerous glacially-fed tributaries including Hidden Lake Creek, Roush Creek, and Vee Creek. The terrain is characterized by extreme relief, featuring landmarks such as Hidden Lake Peaks and the high pass at Saddle Point. Human passage through this protected landscape is limited to the Cascade River Road and primitive routes like the Cascade River Trail and Middle Fork Cascade Trail. High alpine basins contain several small water bodies, notably Lake Number 1, Lake Number 2, and the remote Long Gone Lake near the southern boundary.
