Atwood Oil Field dominates the central landscape of this West Texas region, illustrating the mid-century petroleum development across the Taylor Co Runnels Co line. The terrain transitions from the alluvial plains of Elm Creek and Buffalo Creek into the prominent rises of Moro Mountain and Table Mountain. These elevations, including the namesake Bald Knob, create a natural barrier broken only by the distinct passage at Table Gap.
