The Suwannee River carves the western boundary of this landscape, defining the border between Levy and Dixie Counties. This area is dominated by the hydrology of the Floridan aquifer, most notably at Manatee Springs State Park, where the namesake Manatee Springs flows toward the river. The terrain is a complex of wetlands and limestone features, including Willow Sink, Cook Sink, and the open reach of Piney Prairie.
