1981 Map of Horseshoe Valley

USGS Topo · Published 1982

About this map

Lake Nettie National Wildlife Refuge anchors the southwestern corner of this McLean County landscape, where the prairie is defined by a dense network of glacial potholes and depressions. Mapped in the early 1980s, the terrain transitions from the low-lying Horseshoe Valley to the elevated reaches of Great Stone, a topography dotted with dozens of unnamed ephemeral lakes and small wetlands characteristic of the Missouri Coteau.
