Mt Jupiter dominates the center of this mountain landscape, its steep slopes giving way to the high-elevation Jupiter Lakes and the sharp peak of St Peters Dome. The drainage patterns here are exceptionally defined, with the Dosewallips River cutting across the northern reaches and the Duckabush River flowing through the center, accompanied by the Duckabush Road. These waterways provided the primary corridors for early recreational and forest management access, evidenced by the string of established sites like Steelhead Campground, Elkhorn Campground, and Collins Campground.
