Juab is positioned at the intersection of arid valley floor and steep mountain passes in this early 1980s topographic study. The settlement sits near the banks of Chicken Creek, where water from the high ground meets the broad Juab Valley. To the west, the landscape is defined by the complex drainage systems of the West Hills, including the Middle Fork Sage Valley and East Fork Sage Valley. These two forks converge just south of the strategically located Sage Valley Pass, which served as a primary transit point through the high ridges. The map illustrates a classic Great Basin environment, where seasonal water sources like Lampson Canyon and Levan Ridge dictate the patterns of human presence and land use in a geography of sharp vertical relief.
