The Quinault Indian Reservation occupies the central and southern portions of this coastal Washington landscape, where the Quinault River winds through the lowlands toward the Chow Chow Prairie. To the northeast, the terrain rises sharply toward Thimble Mountain, a prominent peak that overlooks a network of drainages including Ten O'Clock Creek, Lunch Creek, and Crane Creek.

Evidence of the region's historical timber and resource extraction is visible in the presence of an Old RR Grade running along the eastern edge and various Gravel Pits scattered near the riverbanks.
