The Marias River winds through a deeply incised valley where it is formed by the confluence of the Two Medicine River and Cut Bank Creek. This high-plains landscape in northern Montana is defined by the complex hydrology required for agriculture, featuring the AN Canal, AN Six Canal, and the infrastructure of the Bullhead Drop. The topography is marked by significant elevation changes between the river bottoms and the surrounding benches, notably at Abbott Ridge and the Abbott Coulee.
