Two Medicine River meanders across the northern portion of this landscape, marking the boundary between Glacier and Pondera Counties. This 2024 survey documents a region defined by its water management infrastructure and natural basins, most notably the expansive Alkali Lake situated at the heart of the quadrangle. The terrain is deeply influenced by the presence of several irrigation waterways, including N Canal, M Canal, and the Two M Canal, which crisscross the plains to support the local agricultural economy. To the south of the lake, Rocky Ridge Coulee carves through the terrain, providing a distinct topographical contrast to the surrounding flats. The map also records the path of Buffalo Ridge Rd, a primary transit artery for this sparsely populated section of the Montana prairie.
