Deerlodge National Forest dominates this high-altitude landscape where the Sapphire Mountains meet the northern edge of the Anaconda Range. The drainage patterns of the Middle Fork Rock Creek and its many tributaries, including Moose Meadow Creek and Carpp Creek, define the topography. While much of the area is characterized by steep slopes and remote timberline, isolated flatlands like Zekes Meadows and Sagebrush Flat offer distinct breaks in the terrain.
