Wags Pinnacle and Black Butte rise above the high plains of Campbell County, Wyoming, defining a landscape of complex drainages and upland ridges. The terrain is dominated by the headwaters of numerous seasonal systems, including N Prong Pumpkin Cr and several branches of Wild Horse Cr. Water management in this arid environment is evidenced by a network of small impoundments such as Four-4 Line Camp Reservoir, Pumpkin Cr Reservoir, and Beaver Cr Reservoir. Historically, the area is bisected by the Black And Yellow Rd, a name reflecting the early 20th-century highway project intended to connect the Black Hills of South Dakota with the Yellowstone National Park. This modern topographic view also highlights landmarks like Chimney Hill and Wild Horse Slope, providing a detailed look at the ranching-and-resource landscape in the southern Powder River Basin.
