About this map

The Dugway Rim escarpment commands the center of this Wyoming high-country landscape, where the borders of Natrona, Converse, Carbon, and Albany counties converge. This remote terrain is defined by the headwaters of several drainage systems, most notably the North Fork Little Medicine Bow River and the Little Medicine Bow River which wind through the southern sections. In the northeast, the corner of the Medicine Bow National Forest introduces a managed wilderness element to a landscape otherwise dominated by open ranch land and isolated drainages like Deer Creek and Texas Creek. Navigation across these high ridges relies on a sparse network of unpaved tracks such as Bates Creek Rd and Upper Deer Creek Rd. The map illustrates a contemporary pattern of land use where historic county boundaries intersect with the natural topography of Brennan Draw and the limestone-capped rimrocks.
