1984 Map of Perma

USGS Topo · Published 1985

About this map

Perma sits along the northern bend of the Flathead River, where the Burlington Northern railroad follows the water's edge through the Flathead Indian Reservation. This 1980s landscape is defined by the sharp transition from the river valley to the steep elevations of the Lolo National Forest along the southern boundary. Significant topographic markers such as Perma Point, Burnt Fork Pinnacle, and Three Lakes Peak dominate the interior, while the intricate drainage systems of Vandenburg Creek and West Magpie Creek carve out the mountainous terrain. Transportation and utility infrastructure of the era is evident in the presence of a Ferry at Racehorse, the Teddy Tunnel north of Roaring Fork, and a prominent Pipeline that traverses the northern reaches of the quadrangle near Basin Gulch.
