About this map

The Nevada Test Site occupies the northwestern corner of this territory, marking the restricted industrial and military activity characteristic of this region in the early 1980s. This desert landscape is defined by the significant elevation changes of the Spring Mountains in the south and South Ridge in the north. Between these heights, the land is carved by the ephemeral drainage of Niavi Wash and Timpi Wash, the latter of which winds out of Timpi Canyon. A segment of Highway 95 cuts across the northern desert floor, accompanied by utility infrastructure like the Trans Line Wood Pole. Evidence of localized excavation is present through several labeled Borrow Pits, while the border between Nye and Clark Counties bisects the eastern portion of the quadrangle.
