2021 Map of Skinner Canyon

USGS Topo · Published 2021

About this map

Skinner Canyon cuts through the high-desert terrain along the border between Nevada and Utah, where the Kern Mountains and the Deep Creek Range define the horizon. This 2021 survey details a network of vital water sources in an arid landscape, including Cane Spring, Indian Spring, and Upper Sulphur Spring. These features, along with names like Sulphur Wash and Gravel Wash, illustrate the importance of hydrology to the historic and modern navigation of the Great Basin. In the southeastern portion of the map, Pleasant Valley opens up, providing a natural corridor near the state line. Infrastructure is limited to remote routes such as White Pine Co Road 35 and Wish Bone Road 1, which trace the base of the mountains and connect various canyons like Pole Canyon and Pete Neece Canyon.
