Cordova serves as the focal point for this survey of the Southcentral Alaska coast, situated along the complex waterways of Orca Inlet. The landscape is dominated by the massive Chugach Mountains and the sprawling Copper River Delta, where the Copper River meets the Gulf of Alaska. Near the mouth of the river, the Copper River Highway follows the former rail corridor, connecting the coast to the interior past landmarks like Miles Lake and the Martin River Glacier.
